At first it’s ordinary then when you get to the first lookout it is awesome. The rest of the lookouts are also fantastic. Photos don’t do justice.
Just a couple of minutes off the main road and you will arrive at the most wonderful waterfall. Very easily accessed. I absolutely loved my stay at Apsley Falls. I'd advise booking before arriving if you wish to stay there as there is no mobile reception and you don't want to miss out on a spot. The Camp spots where ample sized with your own table and fire pit. Plenty of cut wood and clean flushing toilets. The waterfalls are spectacular and the walk around the gorge is easy and well pathed. An abundance of bird and wildlife. I can't fault the place..will definitely be going back.
Nicer than expected. When you park in the picnic area or long vehicule area you don't hear the falls. There are various walks or loops. The main lookout is impressive. Really good view on the fall.
So easy to see multiple vantage spots - just park your car and walk around. So much to see and there are longer walks around the falls and the gorge of you want to. Highly recommended that you take the 1km turnoff if driving near Walcha.
What a hidden gem! I believe this waterfall perfectly highlights the tablelands nature of this region and why it's a bit cooler here than other areas of NSW.
We always stop here on our way to Walcha to have a quick look. A really beautiful spot whether in the day or at night. Never busy and never crowded. I've flown my drone here a long time ago and it was really beautiful to look at.
There's a platform you can walk on to get a really great vantage point of the waterfall and everything below. It's really easy to just park your car and minimise any walking distance. There is also a little bridge to help you cross the river, just a little upstream from the waterfall.
Spectacular scenery, take in the sounds and the smell of this area.
Many respects are given to our traditional custodians of this land.
Gorgeous as it is, we also acknowledge the traditional land owners who were forced by white men on horseback into the gorge. Not that long ago.
A hidden gem, just a 10-15 minute drive from town. From the surrounding countryside a huge gorge and a rushing waterfall is the last thing you'd expect to find. From the carpark it is only a short accessible walk to the updated and well maintained lookout spots and their breathtaking views, however it feels distant and learning there was a zigzag staircase down to the bottom that was removed in 2021, while unstandable from a safety perspective, is very disappointing. But i havent given on exploring and will be back hoping to find access to closer lookouts on our next visit.
Pleasant, easy walk around all the lookouts with a rather spectacular view from each one. Even though not all lookouts view the falls, they are still something to look at for some dramatic scenery.
